Portfolio review evening - Share your favorite photos from 2016

Come join our portfolio review evening. It is an opportunity to share your photos from 2016, learn from others and get inspired. Please bring a USB stick with MAX 10 photos. We will project the photos on the wall, giving each photographer a few minutes to present and receive feedback on their photos. Hopefully it will inspire and encourage you to experiment with different photo techniques and give constructive feedback to others.

Visit Basel Christmas Market

The Basel Christmas market at Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz is considered to be one of the prettiest and largest in Switzerland. Let`s get inspired and take some magical pictures... We will leave from Schifflände (5.30) and visit first the market at Münsterplatz and then the one at Barfüsserplatz. Just bring your camera and if possible a tripod.

Night- and long exposure photography at the fairground Some people go to the fair to ride the rides. BPM can’t think of a better reason to go to the fair then to capture fair memories with a photograph :) Fairs can provide great photographic offerings ranging from multi colored lights, rides in motion, textures, crowds and fairgroud food. The options are infinite.

Geometry in street photograhy

The topic of this meetup is about the use of geometry in street photography. Curves (S curves, arcs, circles), triangles, and lines (leading, diagonal, parallel, etc). We also consider using architecture as a form of geometrical background in the images. We'll meet and begin at the Münster to hunt for subjects and afterwards we'll finish up back there for coffee, chat and wrap-up.

Getting down and dirty...

Get 'Down and Dirty' is about taking shots from as low a vantage point as possible, either physically, or for those of us not keen on crawling/laying on the ground, or with our cameras close to/at ground level..... it`s an interesting concept and involves seeing from a different perspective and angle than we're used to.

We'll be hosting a food styling and photography event on Thursday, April 7th at my wife`s kitchen :) We'll be providing some food and a few cupcakes to play with and eat. All are welcome to bring your own food e.g. baked goods, whether homemade or from a store. Free food, beer and water will be provided

Photo Walk: Mariastein Abbey - Landskron Castle

Let`s meet for a beautiful photo walk from Mariastein to the Landskron Castle. We will meet at the bus station at Klosterplatz in Mariastein 1.30 pm. From there it`s a few steps to the Mariastein Abbey - it is the second most important place of pilgrimage in Switzerland afer Einsiedeln. We will have a look at the church and afterwards we walk to the Landskron Castle (approx 2.5 km). The view from the top of the castle is fantastic. On the way back to Mariastein we stop at a Restaurant for a drink.

BW Street Photography, Rush Hour

B&W is a different dimension to photography, and there's a reason why so many photographers love B&W, and are addicted to it. Good B&W images are artistic, timeless, and have impact. It forces you to think a lot more about composition, angles, lines, contrast, light, and the dynamic elements in a scene. Set your camera into the B&W creative mode and let`s meet for this street photography session during rush hour.

Looking for Reflections

eflections are everywhere. Glass windows, mirrors, highly polished surfaces, chrome, even somebody's eyeball. Once you start looking for them you can find reflections of one kind or another everywhere around you. We will be looking to photograph reflections from all sorts of shiny on smooth surfaces.

Catching the moon
d sunset overlap by 3 minutes. We will begin with some tips for shooting the full moon, and then make our way to get into position. Who should attend Anyone interested in shooting full moons Bring your camera with a telephoto lens (the longer the better) and a stable tripod. A remote camera trigger would be usefull, but if you do not have one, a timer in your camera will also work.

Let`s enjoy the atmosphere and capture some beautiful moments at the carnival parade! We will meet at Swisshotel and from there we will go with the flow and simply wander around the streets where the parade passes by.
